Is an unintentional double-hit or ball carry legal during play?

Rule 11.A addresses double hits. If a player swings their paddle forward in a single, continuous, unified stroke and the ball strikes the edge guard and then the face (or double-contacts the surface), the shot is deemed continuous and play continues without penalty. However, if there is a deliberate double motion, a scooping carry, or an intentional redirect with two separate wrist snaps, a fault is immediately assessed. Referees inspect the momentum and sound of the strike; a simultaneous double 'thwack' within one forward path is valid.
